Virat Kohli had a lot of expectations riding on him, when he went out to bat in the India-Australia semi-final.

But 13 balls and 1 run later, a lethal delivery from Mitchell Johnson caught him. Kohli was out, dashing dreams and breaking many hearts,

But surprisingly enough, Twitter responded by blaming Anushka Sharma, Kohli’s rumoured girlfriend.

Her presence in the stands at Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) was called ‘distracting’ and in no time, #Anushka was trending on Twitter. Here’s what many Twitter users had to say about the actress.

Some even questioned why Anushka was being continuously shown in the live coverage of the match, especially on the big screen at SCG.

References to her latest film, ‘NH10’ and to her violent, angry character, Meera, were also made.

But what Twitter seems to have forgotten is that the semi-final is just a game. Virat Kohli might be having a bad day, but to blame his poor form on Anushka Sharma is unfair.

Anushka Sharma is an award-winning actress in her own right, and maybe we need to respect that instead of reducing her to a ‘distraction’?

Time to grow up, Twitter.
