Popular messaging app, WhatsApp, has finally released its voice-calling feature for all Android users, with the invite window now open for several hours. Earlier the invite window would only open for a few hours at a time.

Voice-calling can be activated by receiving a call from an existing user who has voice-calling already activated on their phone. Once this is done, the user will see a call tab on top that enables the calling option, as Android Police reports. However there is one caveat, you will need to download the latest version of the app - 2.11.528 - from the play store.

Here is a video tutorial on how to activate the new feature by Chronos Tech.

WhatsApp has been beta-testing the voice-calling feature for quite a while now. The call interface of the app looks quite similar to a smartphone’s contact directory. The app keeps a record of recent WhatsApp calls as well.

WhatsApp still has not announced the voice-calling feature officially on its website or in the release notes on Google Play.

With over 700 million monthly active users, WhatsApp has already become world’s most popular messaging app and now with this new feature, it seem set to further cement its position in this space.
