Exiting a stormy and bitter relationship with the Aam Aadmi Party, its founder members Yogendra Yadav and Prashant Bhushan, are now championing a movement they have called Swaraj Abhiyan.

The two rebels haven’t made it clear whether they plan to launch a political party and contest elections, or whether they are content to play the role of a political pressure group.

In an exclusive interview with senior journalist, Bhupendra Chaubey for The Quint, Yogendra Yadav listed his five-fold path for his future in politics and said that he is committed to follow the first four to begin with.

Qn: There is a clear-cut difference between being a political pressure group/NGO and a political party. Which of these two sides do you see yourself at?

Yogendra Yadav: I always believed that there are five processes which should always happen in politics.

First of which is, contesting elections and trying to form a government.

Second, doing some constructive work something which Mahatma Gandhi did.

Third, struggles and agitations and movements.

Fourth, helping people form opinion.

Fifth, developing an organisation.

Unfortunately, this country’s politics is limited to the first process, which is contesting elections. So through our Swaraj Abhiyan we will try to focus on the first four processes and if we get any success then we will think about the fifth process of building an organisation. It is meaningless to launch a new political party at this point of time.
